Your privacy and discretion are central to VALÉ. This Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to everyone who applies for or uses VALÉ.
1.Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how VALÉ, Inc. ("VALÉ," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you apply for, access, or use the VALÉ website, applications, and services (the "Service"). It applies to all applicants and members. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
VALÉ is an adults-only service. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of twenty-one (21).
2.Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account and contact information, your name, email address, and phone number, which we verify.
- Application and profile information, your age, location (city and state), occupation, photographs, and your written answers to onboarding questions about the life you want, what you are looking for, and your relationship intentions.
- Sensitive information, because of the nature of the Service, you may choose to provide information that is treated as sensitive under certain laws, including your religious or spiritual beliefs, your stance on marriage and children, and information that may reveal aspects of your relationships or orientation. You provide this voluntarily to participate in matching.
- Payment information, when you pay an application fee or membership, our payment processor collects your payment-card and billing details. We do not store full card numbers; we retain limited information such as card brand, last four digits, and billing status.
- Communications, messages, and the content of voice or video calls is transmitted between members; we also collect support requests and correspondence you send us.
- Preferences and settings, such as your matching preferences and notification choices.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data, such as IP address, device and browser type, pages and features used, and interactions, collected through standard logging and similar technologies.
- Cookies and local storage, we use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate the Service.
Information from third parties
We receive limited information from our service providers, for example, payment and subscription status from our payment processor, and delivery status from our email and SMS providers.
3.How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate the Service, create and manage your account, review applications, build and display your profile, and enable discovery, messaging, and calls between members.
- Provide matching, including automated processing of profile information to surface and order potential matches (see "Automated Matching" below).
- Verify identity and eligibility, confirm your email and phone, your age, and the integrity of accounts.
- Process payments, charge application and membership fees, manage subscriptions and renewals, and issue refunds.
- Protect safety and integrity, detect and prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and violations of our Terms, and moderate reported content.
- Communicate with you, send transactional, security, and service messages by email and SMS, and, where permitted, occasional updates.
- Improve the Service, understand usage and develop features.
- Comply with law, meet legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
4.Automated Matching
To help surface compatible members, we may process profile information, including your written answers and stated preferences, using automated systems and specialized third-party service providers. This processing is used to suggest and rank potential matches; it does not make legally significant decisions about you on its own, and human judgment remains part of how the community is curated. We do not permit these providers to use your information to train their own models.
5.How We Share Your Information
With other members
Your profile, including your first name, age, city, photographs, and the answers you choose to share, is shown to other members in accordance with the Service’s design and your settings. Your contact details (email, phone) and payment information are never shown to other members. Be mindful that anything you share in messages or calls is disclosed to the member you communicate with.
With service providers
We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf under contract, only as needed to provide the Service. These include providers of:
- Hosting and infrastructure;
- Database, file storage, and authentication;
- Payment processing and subscription billing;
- Transactional email delivery;
- SMS / phone verification;
- Automated matching and ranking.
For legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of VALÉ, our members, or the public.
Business transfers
If VALÉ is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6.Cookies and Local Storage
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, secure the Service, remember your preferences, and make features work. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may impair the Service.
7.Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements. Limited records of transactions and safety actions may be kept for longer as required. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.
8.Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices for sensitive operations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
9.Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can review and edit much of your information directly in your profile and settings, and you can delete your account at any time. To exercise other rights, contact us at the address below; we will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.
California residents
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EEA / UK residents
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing include the performance of our contract with you, your consent (including explicit consent for sensitive data used in matching), our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. You have the rights described above and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10.Children
The Service is restricted to adults aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 21, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us immediately.
11.International Data Transfers
VALÉ is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
